Michael ThornFARE has long recognised the importance of speaking directly to the Australian community and, over the years, has invested wisely in people and infrastructure to ensure our online presence has been dynamic engaging, content rich and accessible.
In 2012, as our social media presence grew, I was keen, together with FARE’s then Communication Manager Joanna Le, to explore new ways to nourish and promote a genuine two way conversation with Australians about this issue that impacts on all of us.
The result: Drink Tank.
From modest beginnings, Drink Tank has grown to become a trusted platform for the promotion of thoughtful comment about alcohol policy. It has served to showcase opinions and reportage of alcohol policy that has resonated with our broad audience.
Many of our readers are not contributors, but are important players in Australian public policy making, and it is clear that they take note of what Drink Tank contributors have to say.
I am extremely appreciative to all who have contributed to Drink Tank’s success to date; our 140 contributors, advocates, researchers, journalists, surgeons, politicians, public health experts and community members, together with my team at FARE who have shared their voice on this most important of issues.
